  • Starman Archives. Created by Gardner Fox and Jack Burnley for the 61st issue of Adventure Comics, April 1941, Starman was in reality playboy Ted Knight. Starman recieved his powers from a magnetic wand that harnessed the mysterious powers of the stars. Burnley was one of DC's best artists, heavily influenced by Alex Raymond, his art was smooth and refined, his draftsmanship execellent, his anatomy clean. When Burnley departed he was replaced by Mort Meskin, Paul Reinman, and George Roussos. A member of the Justice Society of America, Starman's solo adventures ran until Adventure number 102. Volume 1 reprints Adventure Comics numbers 61-76, the earliest of his legendary adventures, including his origin story. Also reprinted are the Golden Age issues' original covers.
